Big Hair- My Favourite Products
I have quite fine hair and I like my hair to have body and bounce rather than the sleeker finish many favour. I am always on the look out for products aimed at producing ‘big hair’ and have some old favourites plus some recent discoveries. My hair tends to be a lot flatter during the summer, probably due to the humidity… so it becomes more of an issue when the sun is shining and also when I am on holiday. I have found some really great products recently which have really boosted the volume in my hair.
label.m Thickening Collection
I am a big fan of label.m haircare and I was really happy when they introduced their ‘Thickening Collection’ earlier this year. The collection comprises of a Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner, a Volume Foam and a Thickening Cream. I have been using the shampoo, conditioner and volume foam together over the last few weeks. All the producst are designed to counteract dull, flat and lifeless hair and enhance thickness, density and volume. The collection contains an NRG Complex which comprises of Framboise Stem Cells to provide antioxidant nutrition for the hair and Kona Red Coffee Berries which contains collagen and elastin boosting properties. The products are designed to improve the condition of hair and volume with continued use. So do they actually work?
Yes, using the Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner alone left my hair feeling bouncy whilst still feeling shiny and healthy. Volume enhancing products can have a tendency to dry out the hair but these still leave hair feeling well nourished after use. When I used the Volume Foam before drying my hair, this gave my hair an added shot of volume without leaving it feeling sticky and overdone. It also contains the Enviroshield Complex which protects hair from heat appliances and UV rays, perfect during the sunny weather we have been experiencing.
I would definitely recommend this range if you need some added volume which still leaves hair looking naturally bouncy and healthy. The label.m Thickening Range is available from Look Fantastic.
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Blow Out Spray
This is an old favourite for me, but I product I turn to when I am going out and want really voluminous locks! Applied before drying hair, it gives hair a salon blow dry look and leaves it feeling really full. This product can also be used on dry hair before re- drying to get even more body and volume. The Luxurious Volume range from John Frieda is another great range for achieving fuller styles with enhanced body. The Luxurious Volume Blow Out Spray is available from Boots.
Rahua Voluminous Shampoo
This shampoo from organic/vegan brand Rahua contains an exclusive beauty extract found in the Amazon. The shampoo is infused with the native Ungurahua oil which is rich in omega-9 (an essential fatty acid), this helps to strengthen the hair follicle. It also contains citric juices to break down oils, effectively extending the time between washes, resulting in healthier hair. It is gentle enough for coloured hair too. This was perfect for me as I have coloured fine hair which needs a bit of body and this protects whilst strengthening and creating healthy bouncy hair. I have used this several times now and it not only smells great but it really does give my hair a lot of body and bounce and several people have commented on the volume of my hair after using this shampoo. I also love that the collection is paraben, silicone and sulfate free and a 100% vegan, in short it’s bottled ‘goodness’ for my fine blonde hair. The Rahua Luxury Organic Hair Care is available at Urban Retreat in Harrods.
