The second in my Christmas Stocking Fillers post is all about stocking fillers/health and beauty aids for the busy Christmas party season under £10. If you haven’t yet seen Monday’s post about stocking fillers under £5, have a look at this link: http://mybeautyjournal.co.uk/christmas-stocking-fillers-5/
You can also win some of the products I have reviewed so check out this link for more details on my Christmas Giveaway http://mybeautyjournal.co.uk/prize-give-away/
Studio London Nail It Kit
The first stocking filler is this gorgeous nail kit from Superdrug. It contains eight different polishes and two pots of glitter (gold and iridescent pink.) The kit includes some pastel and neutral shades (see top line of polishes) and some brights and vampy darks for winter (along the bottom). There is also a great glittery topcoat included, perfect for Christmasy nails! What’s great about this kit, is there are tips for application on the back of the box to give you some inspiration and ideas for nail art.
Studio London Nail it Kit currently £10 from Superdrug.
Foxy Hair Extensions – Plaited Hair Band
This plaited hair band is great as a gift and also for yourself to glam up a hairstyle over Christmas. Foxy specialise in hair extensions and offer a selection of hair accessories too. This hair band comes in a range of shades so you can match to your exact hair shade. I love this hair band as it provides an easy way to get a different hairstyle and is perfect if you have shorter hair. I have put a picture below of the band in my hair (my hair is due to be coloured soon, hence the horrendous roots!!), it would look great as an addition to some hair pieces too.
Foxy Hairband £9.95, for information visit http://www.foxyhairextensions.net/
Simple Skincare – Illuminating Radiance Cream and BB Beauty Balm
I have included these two products as I think they make great stocking fillers but they are also great products to use over the busy Christmas period and will help keep skin looking radiant even if you feel a wreck on the inside!!
The first product is the Illuminating Radiance Cream. This is a day cream to give skin an added radiance. As with all Simple products, they are great for sensitive skin types, this one is really moisturising too. It contains light reflecting minerals to give skin a dewy glow and it really does improve the appearance of the skin. A definite winner for me and essential to keep skin looking good over Christmas!
The next product is Simple’s BB Cream. This BB cream aims to moisturise, even out skin tone, blur imperfections and fine lines and has an SPF 15. I have been using in conjunction with the Illuminating cream above and when I want a lighter makeup look. It’s not a foundation as with other BB creams so doesn’t give a heavy coverage but its perfect for when you want a more natural look. The shade is a universal shade (see sample picture), and I found it perfect for my medium skin tone so it may be a bit dark for those with a paler skin tone.
Simple Illuminating Radiance Cream £8.99 available from Boots.
Simple Beauty Balm £8.99 available from Boots
Ted Baker Eyelash Curlers
Another great gift from the Ted Baker beauty accessories range. Eyelash curlers make a perfect gift as they are essential for achieving luscious lashes before applying mascara and everyone should have some!
Ted Baker Eyelash Curlers £8 available from most Boots stores and online at www.boots.com
Oriflame ‘Bright Eyes’ Set
This Christmas set contains the wonderful Oriflame ‘Wonderlash’ Mascara (see post http://mybeautyjournal.co.uk/beauty-discovery-box-november/ for review) and also Optimals ‘Seeing is Believing’ Eye Cream. I have already raved about this mascara but the eye cream is worth a try too, This eyecream helps reduce puffiness and brightens the skin around the eye area. It is a good eye cream to use in the morning if you have a tendency to get dark circles. A great gift or a treat for yourself!
Oriflame ‘Bright Eyes Set’ £9.95, for more information visit www.oriflame.co.uk
The Good Boob Bible
A strange product to feature as a stocking filler you might think? An idea though, for anyone who is considering breast augmentation as it gives detailed information from two breast specialist cosmetic surgeons and also includes stories from women who have undergone surgery themselves.
The Good Boob Bible £7.99 available from Amazon.
Ted Baker Nail Polish Strips
Some more beauty accessories from Ted Baker, the Nail Polish Strips. These come in four different designs (shown below from left: Gold Bird and Treasured Orchid) inspired by the Ted Baker Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. They are really easy to apply and help to glam up any outfit over the festive season. They make a great gift too and I really love the packaging.
Ted Baker Nail Polish Strips £7.50 available from most Boots stores and online at www.boots.com
Ted Baker ‘Faked to Perfection’ Artificial Nails and Glue
If you need a bit of help in the nail department (like me), then these artificial nails are great. Again, they come in some great designs. My favourite are the Pink with Rose Gold, they make nails look really natural but still make a bit of a statement for a night out. They are really easy to apply too.
Ted Baker Artificial Nails & Glue £8 available from most Boots stores and online at www.boots.com
Nelsons Bach Rescue Cream, Rescue Balm and Nelsons Arnicare Bath and Massage Balm
These three products are great skin rescuers for over the festive season and will make fab stocking fillers too. The Bach Rescue Cream and Rescue Balm are part of the Bach Rescue Remedy Range (which brings back bad memories of driving tests – I must have ingested litres of the stuff to get me through.) The Rescue Range combines the original five Bach flower essences ( Rock Rose, Impatiens, Clematis, Star of Bethlehem and Cherry Plum) plus Crab Apple to help soothe and restore skin whilst also making you feel good. The Rescue Cream is an intensive cream for dry patches and is suitable for dry/sensitive skin. I have been using on my face at night as it is so dry at the moment and also my hands which are always dry, and it seems to soften them really well. The Rescue Balm is for lips and comes in a handy little pot, perfect to carry around in the winter.
Nelsons Arnicare Bath and Massage Balm is an oil which can be used in the bath or applied direct to the skin. The balm contains Arnica Montana to soothe and relax, Calendula, Evening Primrose and Sweet Almond Oils to naturally hydrate and nourish the skin. It has a gorgeous lavender and grapefruit scent and is perfect for use after a tiring day Christmas shopping or just when you need reviving generally!
Sleek Makeup I – Divine Celestial Eye Palette
This eye palette from Sleek Makeup has some really great pigmented colours and will make a gorgeous present. It contains 12 different colours, six of them are iridescent and six are matte. It contains shimmery midnight blues and deep purples to conjure up an illusion of the stars. My favourites are the shimmery black shade ‘Dark Matter’ (top left) and the shimmery plum colour ‘Solar’ (top right). It was recently featured in an eye palette special in Look magazine too. I love the packaging the palette comes in, it looks much more expensive than it is.
Sleek Makeup Celestial Eye Pallette £7.99 available online at http://www.sleekmakeup.com/
Studio London ‘Bronzed Beauty’ Makeup Kit.
The last product in the under £10 stocking filler is one of my favourites. It is the bronzing kit from Studio London at Superdrug. The set includes a bronzer, three eyeshadows, highlighter and a lipgloss.
The kit also contains hints and tips for creating a perfect sunkissed glow. I personally haven’t used all the products together, but I do really like some of the items in the kit including the ‘Rich Gold’ eyeshadow (middle eyeshadow), which is a deep bronze colour perfect for my signature smoky eye! I also love the nude lipgloss (see swatch below) which is more of a sweet pink colour. This is a really good price for a makeup kit, especially with the number of products it contains. A definite winner for me!
Studio Bronzed Beauty Kit £6.50 from Superdrug.
I hope you enjoyed looking at my stocking filler ideas and don’t forget to enter the Christmas Giveaway too http://mybeautyjournal.co.uk/prize-give-away/
