I have a few must have makeup/skin care products which I use when I have a night out or a big event ( I don’t use them all on a daily basis, mostly because I don’t have the time!!) I find these products work really well for my skin and all are particularly good if you have a dry skin type like mine.
The products I always use (in the order I have written them ) are:
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
Primer – Laura Mercier (Radiance)
Foundation – Christian Dior ‘ Diorskin Nude’ (030 Medium Beige) + Foundation Brush
YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch (2 Luminous Ivory)
Bourjois Delice De Poudre – Bronzing Powder (51 Peaux Claires/Medianes)
Blusher – Maybelline Dream Touch Blush – Berry
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm – I have been using this for a good 15 years now and haven’t yet found anything which rivals it. I use as a base and apply after cleansing, toning and moisturising (you can use without moisturiser, but I have very dry skin so I use both!) You can also use as a facemask if you apply a thicker layer on the face and tissue off the remains after approximately 15 minutes. This product really brightens and tightens my face and ensures that my makeup goes on really smoothly. It is the winner of countless accolades, check out their website for details http://www.clarins.co.uk/Beauty-Flash-Balm/C010405004,en_GB,pd.html
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Radiance
This is a product I have only just recently discovered but now I would not be without it. My original review of this primer is on http://mybeautyjournal.co.uk/laura-mercier-primer-radiance/
I apply this after the Clarins Flash Balm but before my foundation. This really perks and brightens my skin hence the title of ‘radiance’ and it ensures my makeup stays put and looking fresh all night/day long.
Christian Dior ‘ Diorskin Nude ‘ – 030 Medium Beige + Foundation Brush
I discovered this foundation last year and it is now my favourite. It is classed as ‘Skin Glowing Makeup’ and it really does give skin a glow and perk up dull complexions. It is perfect for my dry skin and gives a great even medium coverage. It is really moisturising and doesn’t make my face feel taught or too overdone. I apply the foundation with a foundation brush ( a tip I got a while ago from a professional makeup artist) and this really helps you get a smooth even coverage. I think it helps the foundation last longer too. As with all foundations it’s best to visit a counter and get someone to help you with the colour matching.
Yves Saint Laurent – Touche Éclat Radiant Touch – Shade 2 Luminous Ivory
Next up is the iconic Touche Éclat in shade 2. What can I say about this, which hasn’t already been said? It is amazing and generally just perks up the under eye area. I also use it to highlight and contour other areas of my face.
Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder – Shade – 51 Peaux Claires/Medianes
I am never without my bronzer. I don’t use setting powder or any other powder apart from bronzer as I find it very drying ( and ageing!) This bronzer is great as it is quite matte without glittery particles, so you can use during the day also. The colour is good as there are no orangey undertones. It also smells pretty good and is very easy on the purse!
Maybelline Dream Touch Blush – Berry
Finally my cream blusher, which I have already raved about in another post http://mybeautyjournal.co.uk/my-makeup-bag-essentials-beauty-steals/ Needless to say, it is my ‘go to’ blusher and the shade is great for my skin, not too pink, and it really perks up my skin. It applies really easily without dragging the skin and lasts well too.
So these are my essentials for a flawless base before I apply the rest of my makeup. If any readers have any thoughts or suggestions of alternative products, it would be great to hear from you.
