Oriflame – ‘The One Collection’
I was kindly invited to an event to showcase the new ‘One Collection’ from Oriflame on Saturday. It was held at the Living Room in Leeds. There were lots of other beauty bloggers and journalists there to find out more about the One Collection, which includes brand new colour technology, packaging and innovation from Swedish brand Oriflame. The One Collection’s brand ambassador, celebrity makeup artist Gary Cockerill was on hand to talk about the range and give some demonstrations on very willing volunteers!
The products were on display throughout the room, so I got to try a lot of the new products. I was really interested to find out what Gary Cockerill had to say about the range. He told us about his background and how he had become a makeup artist. He has never been to ‘makeup school’ as such but is self-taught and is now a renowned makeup artist with a long list of celebrity clients.
He gave several makeup demonstration throughout the afternoon, including statement lips. He demonstrated how to give the illusion of fuller lips without looking like you have a ‘trout pout’ using the Oriflame One lip liner and lipstick. He also gave a great demonstration on how to achieve fuller longer lashes. For this, he used false lashes from his own range Gary Cockerill Pro Lashes – Damsel in a Dress. He applied the lashes and used in combination with the Oriflame Volume Blast Mascara ( which he raved about). He gave a great tip for curling lashes before applying mascara. Gary explained that rather than curling lashes in one section, which tends to give a more straight-up looking lash. He recommends curling lashes in three sections to give more of a curl effect. You should start at the base of the lashes and hold for 10 seconds, then the same in the middle section for 10 and again just near the end of the lashes again for 10 seconds. After this, apply the mascara. The volunteer who had her eyelashes applied, looked amazing. I have tried myself and it works really well.
The last demonstration Gary did, he used the new Oriflame The One Colour Impact Cream Eyeshadow. He used a gorgeous green colour on the volunteer and built it up to create an impressive statement eye. This showed how well the cream applied and blended without creasing.
Gary’s recomendations from the One Collection included their new ‘Illuskin’ Foundation which he likened to MAC Face and Body foundation and the Volume Blast Mascara.
At the end of the event, we all left with an amazing ‘goody’ bag which contained a selection of products from the One Collection (see below:)
Gary used this mascara in one of his demonstrations and spoke about how good it was. I was amazed when I tried on my lashes, it really lengthens and volumises easily without having to apply coat after coat. It has a good glossy colour and doesn’t transfer to the skin around the eye area like many mascara’s I have tried. I would even go as far to say that it might rival Benefit ‘They’re Real’ and Max Factor False Lash Mascara. It is definitely one to try!
I love the formula of this lipstick, it is creamy and seems to soften the lips but is still long-wearing. The colour is great too. I was a bit wary when I opened the box as I thought it might be one that didn’t really suit me. It is gorgeous though, a creamy pinky nude, perfect for everyday wear with a paired down makeup look but also great to wear with a smoky eye on an evening.
I am a big fan of liquid eyeliners so I was really excited to try this product. I actually tried it when we were at the event and loved it, so when I received one in the goody bag I was really pleased. It promises 24 hours wear and when I tried it at the event it dried pretty much instantly and wouldn’t budge, even though it was a really hot sticky day. Even when I arrived home and washed it off my hands, it took a while to remove! It is again a highly pigmented glossy shade and the felt tip pen applicator is easy to use. It gives a really precise line. I would love to try the grey and brown version of this pen too.
This long-lasting nail polish is a gorgeous glossy deep pink colour and I will be wearing on my toes throughout the summer. It has a great flat brush too perfect for achieving an even colour on the nails. It does last very well and I didn’t start to see any chips for about three days, which is pretty good for me!
These cream eyeshadows have had some rave reviews and Gary used one in his eye makeup demonstration to show how to achieve a statement eye. I have always avoided cream eyeshadows as they tend to crease and as I wear a lot of liquid eyeliner they don’t seem to work well together. This one is different however, and is long-lasting and does not crease at all. The colour is great, another fairly neutral shade which will suit everyone and is particularly good for highlighting under the brow area.
My personal favourites from the collection are the Volume Blast Mascara as I have raved about above and the gorgeous lipcolour in Blush which is a perfect everyday shade for me and will probably suit most complexions. I have been really impressed with the quality of Oriflame’s The One Collection makeup and will definitely look to try the ‘illuskin foundation’ ( I tried their ‘Perfect Fusion’ foundation earlier this year and really liked the formula.) All the products are long-lasting and really reasonably priced too.
All in all, it was a great day. I got to meet some more beauty bloggers, test some fabulous new makeup and meet the wonderful Gary Cockerill!
