When I heard that the Skin Revival Laser Clinic had recently opened up in Heritage Mills Complex, Huddersfield, I was keen to take a look. I visited on Friday 5th October, and I wasn’t disappointed.
The clinic offers a number of treatments including: Soprano ICE Laser Hair Removal, Botox and Fillers, Skin Rejuvenation, Acne Treatments, Eczema Treatments and Microdermabrasion.
I was booked in for a complimentary Dermalux LED Phototherapy session and an initial patch test for the Soprano ICE Virtually Pain Free Hair Removal.
When I arrived I was greeted by two friendly members of staff who showed me all around the clinic and explained in depth about the treatments on offer. I was also shown the Lasers and Machines they use which are brand new and state of the art. Both therapists are fully qualified to perform the treatments on offer and there is a qualified doctor working there who can administer the Botox and fillers.
I was given a full consultation before both treatments and was required to answer in depth questionnaires to ensure the treatments were both suitable and safe for my skin type.
The first treatment was the patch test for the laser hair removal using the Soprano ICE laser. I chose to have the patch test on my upper lip. I was certainly a bit dubious about this as I have had friends in the past who have had the IPL treatment to remove hair and it has been uncomfortable to say the least, pain wise. I was completely reassured by the member of staff performing the treatment who went through all the details with me . The manufacturers of the laser say ‘This treatment works by using pulses of laser energy to gradually heat the hair follicles in the subdermal layer of skin until they can no longer produce new hair’ Benefits of using this machine to remove hair include fast treatment times (I can certainly vouch for that!), few side effects, no skin anaesthetics required, no recovery or ‘downtime’ and it is safe for all skin types including tanned skin. For hair to be completely removed a number of treatments are required and the therapists can advise on this.
Before the treatment, the therapist cleansed the area of skin to be worked on (they may also shave the area, but this wasn’t required, as I have quite fine blonde hair). A cool gel was then applied to help guide the laser. The therapist then showed me the laser and asked me to feel it, it is very cold hence the ‘ICE’ title. She input the area to be treated in to the laser’s computer and it showed that the treatment would take exactly 16 seconds. The laser was then moved over my skin and I can honestly say it doesn’t hurt at all. I would liken it to putting a lukewarm cup to your lips, they use the description of the sensation of a hot stone massage (which sounds more attractive!) and it was over so quickly. After this one treatment, the therapist said that after about a week, the hairs which had been lasered would begin to fall out.
After this treatment, next up was Skin Rejuvenation with the Dermalux Phototherapy session , this is particularly good after a laser hair removal treatment or microdermabrasion as it takes any skin redness down. I hadn’t heard of the Demalux Phototherapy treatment before reading about it on the clinics website. The therapist again talked me through this treatment. It is a non – invasive treatment which uses light to accelerate the skin’s natural rejuvenation and repair processes. The information they gave me says that Phototherapy use specific wavelengths of light to recharge cells, energising them to heal quicker and rejuvenate faster. This treatment can be used for a number of skin conditions including the treatment of acne, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, soothing redness and helping the skin condition Rosacea, reducing pigmentation, scar reduction and general skin rejuvenation. The machine itself is quite big and has lots of lamps attached. Again a full skin cleanse is performed ( and the clinic use the gorgeous SkinCeuticals brand of skin care) I then laid on the bed wearing a pair of goggles before the lamp was lowered down over my face (it can be used on other areas of the body too.) My rejuvenation prescription was 20 minutes underneath the lamps. It is very relaxing lying underneath the lamp and not at all uncomfortable. After my time was up, I was shown my skin in a mirror and it did look a lot brighter and plumped up, there was also no redness where I had the laser treatment. SPF 50 moisturiser was then applied to protect my skin ( as it had been lasered) and I was advised to wear a high SPF for the next couple of weeks on my face.
This is another treatment I would recommend before a special occasion such as a wedding, and I think it would be great in conjunction with the Micro Dermabrasion treatment they offer too. It is also good for giving your skin a boost every so often. I will certainly be going back!
The staff at the clinic were beyond helpful and are happy to help with any queries you may have about any of the treatments. They have a website www.skinrevivallaser.co.uk or you can contact on 01484 firstname.lastname@example.org
As the clinic has just opened they have several special offers on at the moment including this amazing one (which I am definitely going to book) on Wahanda (link below) for three Microdermabrasion and three Dermalux Phototherapy sessions for an amazing £39.99, ( a session for Phototherapy normally costs £40, so this is an immense saving.) I’m not sure how long the offer will last.
The clinic is also offering three free Dermalux treatments with three paid for laser hair removal sessions ( for more information on this, contact the clinic itself, this offer is on until the end of January.)
