Summer Special: Bodycare Part 1
I have tried so many wonderful products for the body which help skin look great and glow during the summer months, that I have had to split in to two posts! The first part is below and the next part will come later in the week!
Herbalife Aloe Vera Range – Soothing Gel and Hand & Body Wash
First up in the summer body special are this duo from the Herbal Aloe Range from Herbalife. These products have been developed to nourish skin in need of hydration and contain the wonder ingredient Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera soothes, hydrates, heals and refreshes skin by locking in moisture.
The Herbal Aloe Soothing Gel is perfect for moisturising and soothing dry skin. It is a non greasy gel which is easily absorbed and perfect for cooling down skin after time spent in the sun. It makes a great after sun product. What I didn’t realise about Aloe Vera Gel is, how good it is for calming down dry/sensitive skin which I am prone to. It really does soothe and moisturise the skin. It is the perfect skin saver for everyday use too.
The Herbal Aloe Hand & Body Wash gently cleans and hydrates skin, relieving dryness and locking in moisture. It is a really gentle formula so perfect for skin if you have been in the sun all day. It is great used in combination with the gel above. This is definitely going to be a staple in my toiletry bag for holidays. The Soothing Gel currently retails at £8.63 and the Hand & Body Wash £9.25, both are available at Herbalife.
Cloud 9 is a fairly new skincare range to the UK. They specialise in developing and producing products for specific skincare concerns. The ‘Body Makeover Cellulite Treatment’ has been developed to improve the appearance of ‘orange peel’ skin and fight cellulite using six key ingredients including Gotu Kola, Horse Chestnut, Grapeseed oil and Vitamin E. It also contains caffeine (which helps reduce water retention and tightens skin) and finally the Thermogenic (heating) of Ivy which helps boost blood and lymph flow to help firm the skin.
When the gel is applied to skin it does make the skin tingle initially and there is some redness which quickly subsides. It feels as though the gel is working as soon as you apply and it tightens up the skin from the first application.
The important part, does it work? Well yes it does. I have been using the Body Makeover Cellulite Treatment for nearly six weeks now and I feel like it has definitely improved the appearance of the skin on the back of my thighs. They seem a lot smoother. I have also used on my stomach area and the skin in this area is taughter than it was beforehand. The key to this products effectiveness is the use of massage when applying the gel. The longer you massage the product in to your skin the more effective it will be ( they recommend 15 minutes.) The massage technique helps improve blood and lymph flow to the areas you apply it, hence firmer skin. I know 15 minutes massage is a long time and I have to admit I haven’t massaged for that long when I applied the product. It was normally between 3 – 5 minutes depending on how long I had. However, I still experienced great results from that. I will continue to use this throughout the next couple of months to get my skin in good condition for holidays.
Totally unrelated to the product but I have to mention the sleek shiny blue packaging which I love. It looks very glam on my bathroom shelf! It currently retails at £35 at Cloud 9.
You are probably all familiar now with the Moroccanoil range for hair and the cult hair oil they are famous for. The brand have recently launched a body range which pretty much does for the body what it does for the hair, drench with moisture! The range is currently available to buy from Harvey Nichols and is a premium range of products for the body. I have tried the amazing Body Souffle and the Dry Body Oil Spray.
Moroccanoil Body Souffle – RRP £43
The Moroccanoil Body Souffle contains Shea butter, Argan Oil and Aloe Vera to help deliver intense hydration to the skin. The extract of Aloe Vera makes it very soothing too, perfect for calming skin after the sun. What I love about this product is the light texture, hence the title of soufflé. It is very light when applied to skin but still moisturises really well. It smells very fresh too and has the signature Moroccanoil scent as do all the products in the range. Available at Harvey Nichols.
Moroccanoil Dry Body Oil – RRP £35
This weightless dry oil is instant nourishment for the skin. It contains Argan Oil, Olive Oil and Avocado Oil to help lock in moisture, and improve the texture and tone of the skin. It really is ‘dry’ and sinks in instantly leaving skin looking silky and plumped up. I have been using down the front of my legs when wearing shorts or a skirt to improve the appearance of the skin. The products are great used in conjunction with each other and perfect for summer as they are such light textures and don’t feel like they are clogging the skin. The Body Oil is also available at Harvey Nichols.
