Summer Special: Facial Skincare

Summer Special: Facial Skincare wpid-dsc_1199_20140427161642155.jpg

The first post in my summer special is all about facial skincare. I have tried quite a few products recently and I have picked those I think are great for protecting the skin in the sun and some other products which I think will help skin during the summer months. I have really dry skin which tends to be a lot better during the summer,  and these are all  products which have worked well for my skin.

Simple Protecting Moisture Cream SPF 30 First up is this great all around moisturiser from Simple, a brand I have used many times in the past as it is perfect for dry/sensitive skin. The Protecting Moisture Cream from Simple is particularly good for summer as it contains SPF 30, perfect if like me you like to be out in the sun and don’t always remember to apply sunscreen regularly. Essentially, it also protects from UVA/UVB rays, perfect for keeping those wrinkles at bay. This moisturiser is also a great base for makeup, it sinks in to the skin really well and makes skin look healthy and radiant. It contains sweet almond oil, which is perfect for drier skin like mine. It is a light consistency however, so I feel this would be suitable for most skin types. The Simple moisturiser retails at £6.99.

image Ginvera Green Tea Exfoliating Marvel Gel This Ginvera Exfoliating Gel is getting somewhat of a cult following now ( I first featured this product last year), but I feel it is something I should feature again in this summer special. Exfoliation is key to keeping skin looking fresh and radiant during the summer months. I am featuring three exfoliators in this article, this one which I feel is great for dry/sensitive skins and also another one suitable for all skin types and an organic option. This amazing gel exfoliator is applied to skin and then you use your fingers to kind of buff/massage off the gel. After the skin has been rinsed, it looks unbelievably fresher and makeup goes on so smoothly. It is a great product for all skin types, but if you have got dry/sensitive skin it is very gentle whilst still giving great results. Ginvera Green Tea Exfoliating Marvel Gel retails at £19.95, but they also offer a 10g travel size for £2 which is perfect for holidays. image Perfectil Plus Pro Tan This supplement from the Perfectil skin range has been developed to support and retain a healthy looking tan. They are NOT tanning tablets!! They help to ensure skin is in optimum condition before holidays. The Perfectil Plus Protan includes a copper-biotin nutrient blend plus B complex and carrot extract that work in synergy to help promote tanning. The tablets also contain a blend of micronutrients to help nourish skin, hair and nails. I have used the Perfectil range in the past and they definitely helped boost my hair and nails, both seemed to grow a lot faster whilst I was taking the supplements. I am also using these to help nourish my dry skin as there is nothing worse than having dry skin throughout the summer, when you tend to wear a lot less! I can’t comment on how well these tablets work as I haven’t been taking them long enough but I will add to this post when I have been taking them for the recommended amount of time (1 month before holidays and for 3 months afterwards) and when I have been in the sun! Perfectil Plus Pro Tan retail at £34.95 image The Body Deli – Blueberry Fusion Micro Scrub An organic option now, from a beauty brand fresh from California, ‘The Body Deli’. The Body Deli offer an amazing range of ‘Superfood’ skincare. All the products are made using raw natural superfood ingredients. The Blueberry Fusion Micro Scrub is a natural antioxidant facial scrub made from Blueberries and Acai berries, it also contains three naturally occurring acids, Lactic, Malic and Citric. It promises to leave skin, fresher, brighter and smoother after use and even goes as far as to claim that it can rival a professional micro – dermabrasion treatment! This products literally smells good enough to eat, I think it is probably the best smelling beauty product I have ever used. The scrub is applied to dry skin and massaged in, it is not an overly grainy scrub, gentle but still highly effective. After I applied my normal toner and moisturiser my skin did look a lot brighter and felt very smooth. The only thing with this product is you have to be careful not to get on to clothes as it does stain, due to the potency of the ingredients.  I really loved this scrub and I love the concept of the brand. I will definitely be checking out some of their other products. The Body Deli products are available exclusively online at ‘A Beautiful World’ and the Blueberry Fusion Micro Scrub retails at £28. image Super Collagen + Vitamin C Another supplement, but more of a preventative supplement for skin this time. The Super Collagen tablets contains Collagen obviously, but also contain vitamin C, which not only is key to collagen production, but is an antioxidant that slows free radical damage that cause anti-aging – making this collagen supplement much more powerful than collagen alone. These tablets can also help with nail and hair growth, to ensure you look your best throughout the summer months. The Super Collagen tablets retail at £12.99 for a month’s supply. image St Ives Apricot Facial Scrub Another amazing face scrub worth trying is the St Ives Apricot Facial Scrub which comes in four different formulations for different skin types. I tried the ‘Invigorating’ scrub which is perfect for normal skin. This is quite a grainy scrub ( it contains Apricots, Walnuts and Corn Kernels) but perfect for exfoliating skin to get smoother healthier looking skin. I tend to wear less makeup during the summer, so I try to make sure my skin is in better condition and regular exfoliation helps with this. These Scrubs from St Ives also smell really fruity and fresh and they are very purse friendly… retailing at £5. image The next summer special will focus on makeup products which are great for the summer months.
