Summer Special: Suncare Products

A really important aspect of summer skincare is sun protection for the skin. I have been sent a selection of products to review, a mixture of sun protection and also products to help soothe and repair skin after being in the sun. Sunscreens are there to help protect against UVA and UVB rays and are essential to protect skin against burning and also premature ageing. There has been a lot written about sunscreens recently after the ‘Which’ report which claimed that several sunscreens from popular brands did not provide the protection they claimed to, see more about this on Cancer Research website. I have used these products myself and found them to be particularly good for my skin type, however I can’t test their sun protection claims! I just make sure I apply plenty of high factor sunscreen on a regular basis when out in the sun.

Lavera Organic SPF 20 Sunspray

This sunspray from German natural skincare brand Lavera protects the skin with it’s 100% mineral water resistant formula. It contains nourishing organic skin ingredients Calendula and Sunflower Oils. What I love about this spray is that it is orange tinted when you apply, so you can see where you have applied the spray without missing bits. It completely blends in to the skin and doesn’t leave a chalky white residue on skin like some sun protection does. It smells absolutely gorgeous too and leaves skin feeling soft but not sticky. It retails online at £11.95 for 125ml and is also available from Holland & Barrett stores.

Delph SPF30 Lotion and Delph Aftersun

Delph suncare offers a range of suncare protection from SPF8 to 50. Delph products also offer UVA 4* (superior) protection against those pesky UVA (ageing) rays. The sun creams contain Shea Butter and Coconut Oil which is perfect for my dry skin, I found them really moisturising  and not drying at all like some others I have used in the past. The Aftersun contains Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to help soothe skin, again a really moisturising product. Both products are reasonably priced and start at £4.79 for suncream, available at pharmacies nationwide.

Lacura Suncare Range from Aldi

Last but not least, Aldi’s Lacura range has some great suncare products. The products have 5* UVA/UVB protection (the highest) and are really good value, priced from £1.99 for aftersun products up to £2.99 for the skin protection products. They also have a really great range for kids too including some products aimed at sensitive skin for kids (perfect for my younger daughter who suffers with eczema). The range includes:

Extra Sensitive SPF 50 for Kids Sun Spray

Sunspray Coloured for Kids SPF 30

Extra Water Resistant Sun Lotion for Kids SPF 50

Moisturising Sun Lotion SPF 15 and SPF 30

Moisturising Sun Spray SPF 30 and SPF 15

Oil Spray SPF 15

Aftersun Spray 24 Hours Moisturisation with Aloe Vera.

My picks from the range include the SPF15 Oil Spray, a great one for dry skin again. I also love the Lacura Suncare kids range especially the Extra Sensitive SPF50 Sun spray, they also do a kids coloured version of the spray so you can see where it has been applied. Ever since I tried the Lacura range in my anti ageing special last year, I have been a devotee of their products and it shows you don’t have to pay a fortune for great skincare and suncare now!!

Products below are all available in local Aldi stores.
